Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Thesis-It, the thesis-writing workspace operated by Workcyte Digital Academy (SSM Registration No. 202603071928), a business enterprise registered in Malaysia. By creating an account, subscribing to a plan, or otherwise using the Thesis-It service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

"Account" means your registered user account with Thesis-It. "Content" means what you create or store through the Service: your thesis text and its structure, the text extracted from templates, guidelines and sources you bring in, the figures and tables you add, your notes, and the documents you export. "Subscription" means a paid access plan to the Service. "Included AI" means the AI drafting and checking steps the Service runs for you through Google's Gemini API within your plan's allowance. "Your own AI" means the same steps done by copying a prompt from Thesis-It into a chat service you use yourself and pasting the reply back. "Third-Party Services" means external services the Service depends on, including Google (Gemini API), Crossref and OpenAlex (source metadata), and CHIP (payments).

You must be at least 18 years old to create an Account. You sign in with a link sent to your email address, so anyone who can read that inbox can reach your Account: keep it secure, and tell us at security@thesisit.app immediately if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for every action taken under your Account. If you choose to use your own Gemini API key instead of the included AI, that key stays on your device, is sent by your browser directly to Google, and its cost and terms are between you and Google.

The Service has one paid plan, Thesis-It Pro, at RM39 per 30 days, priced in Malaysian Ringgit and paid through CHIP by FPX online banking, DuitNow QR, or card. FPX and DuitNow QR payments are one-time payments, so you renew by hand each period. Card payments can renew automatically if you switch auto-renew on at checkout, and you can switch it off at any time on the billing page. We email reminders at seven days and three days before your period ends, on the day it ends, and three days after, so a renewal is never a surprise. Prices exclude any tax that applies. There is no lock-in. If auto-renew is off, your Subscription simply runs to the end of the period you paid for and stops. If auto-renew is on, switching it off on the billing page is the only step. Either way you keep full access until the end of the paid period. After that your Account becomes read-only: you can open, read, export and delete everything you made, forever and without paying, and you can resubscribe at any time to write again. Refunds are governed by the Refund policy at https://thesisit.app/legal/refund-policy: payments for a period that has begun are generally not refundable, and we refund charges that went wrong.

You are the author of your thesis. Thesis-It drafts to your structure and your facts under your direction and your supervisor's, and nothing an AI step writes enters your thesis until you accept it. Your university's rules on the use of AI, on originality and on supervision govern your work, and you are responsible for declaring your use of AI as those rules require. The Service is built for declared, supervised use: it does not disguise AI-written text, does not try to defeat AI detectors, and does not present someone else's words as yours. You agree not to use the Service to misrepresent authorship, to submit work you did not direct, or to breach the rules of your institution.

You also agree not to use the Service in violation of applicable law; reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code of the Service; interfere with, disrupt, or overload the Service or its infrastructure; share, resell, or sublicense access to the Service; circumvent usage limits, the AI allowance, or entitlement checks; or bring in content you do not have the right to process. Your use of any Third-Party Service is subject to that service's own terms.

You retain all rights, title and interest in your Content, including every draft an AI step produced and you accepted. By using the Service you grant Workcyte Digital Academy a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to process, store, transmit and display your Content solely to provide the Service to you, including to share it with the people you invite. Workcyte Digital Academy retains all rights in the Service itself, including its software, methods, interfaces, prompts and documentation. You may not use the Thesis-It name, logo or brand assets without written permission.

The Service relies on external services: Google's Gemini API for the included AI, Crossref and OpenAlex for source metadata when you search for or verify a source, CHIP for payments, and the hosting and email providers named in the Privacy Policy. Thesis-It is not responsible for the availability, accuracy or terms of these services. Source records found through public metadata services can be incomplete or wrong, and the Service marks what it could not verify rather than hiding it.

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY. WORKCYTE DIGITAL ACADEMY DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE. Thesis-It's checks report what the app can see in your text and your structure, and its exports follow the format rules you adopted. We do not warrant that any thesis prepared with the Service will be accepted by any university, faculty, examiner or supervisor. Your supervisor's and your examiners' judgement remains the gate, and the content, the research and the interpretation remain your responsibility.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL WORKCYTE DIGITAL ACADEMY, ITS AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNTS PAID BY YOU FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable Malaysian law, including under the Consumer Protection Act 1999.

These Terms apply from the day you create an Account until terminated. You may terminate at any time by letting your Subscription end and asking us to delete your Account. We may suspend or terminate your Account if you materially breach these Terms, with reasonable notice where feasible, and we will give you the chance to export your Content first wherever the law and the circumstances allow. The sections on your content and our software, warranties, limitation of liability, governing law and contact survive termination.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia, with venue in Negeri Sembilan.
